Why the lotion interests me

The unglamorous half of the name turned out to contain a very good question.

Peptide Body Lotion

Peptide Body Lotion is an editorial title over a personal collection of essays about published GHK-Cu research. There is no lotion range, checkout or treatment service attached to the name. The whole cream is my subject: the ingredient, the base around it and the skin it meets.

An ordinary thing that becomes more exacting under scrutiny is my sort of subject. In this case the topical review's emphasis on poor skin permeability supplies the complication. The word lotion begins to sound less like a convenient carrier and more like something that deserves an experiment of its own.

From collagen to the cream base

The ingredient had my attention before the base did. The fibroblast finding of increased collagen synthesis without a change in cell number gave that interest something concrete to rest on. The skin-delivery paper then pulled my attention toward the preparation and the measured substance: copper passing through skin, copper remaining in tissue.

Those questions have earned my attention. Vague cosmetic claims leave me colder, especially when they omit the formulation. A clear comparison involving a finished body lotion and its own base would move this argument forward. That preference is the thread connecting the essays here.

Medical advice

These essays cannot assess a skin condition or decide on treatment, and none of the material here is medical advice. A personal medical question needs a qualified clinician who can consider the person asking it. Reading an account of a study cannot supply that encounter.

There are no instructions here for making, applying or administering a preparation. Experiments and their cosmetic implications occupy these pages. The reading list gathers the publications discussed, while the contact page states the site's present correspondence arrangements.
